Version 2.0.1 will not bring any new wallpapers to your computer's desktop (you'll have to wait for version 2.1 to come out), but it does feature a major improvement to the program's interface. When I first created NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader, one window seemed enough, but as the application grew bigger and bigger, a second window with more features was clearly necessary.
As you might have guessed already, the second window is a progress window, providing an estimate on the number of wallpapers remaining in the download queue. A download progress bar is also available, for those with slow connections. I had to change the download method in order to include it, so, hopefully, there won't be any problems, or, at least, nothing an app restart won't solve...
A cool new addition is the wallpaper preview: after downloading a wallpaper, the program will add it to a list, when clicking its name, a preview will be displayed. For each wallpaper four options will become available: Open, Open with..., Delete and Set as wallpaper. It's pretty obvious what they do, but here it goes
Open will open the wallpaper with the default software associated with JPGs. Delete will remove the wallpaper from your hard drive. Open with... will open the Open with... window for the wallpaper you've selected, in case you're interested in viewing / editing it with another program (and not the default software). And, last, but not least, Set as wallpaper will change your current wallpaper (desktop background) with the selected NG wallaper. Be advised: This feature was tested on operating system newer than XP, so I have no idea if or how it works on Windows 2000, NT, ME, 98 etc |
