NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader has come a long way in just a few days: version 1.1 listed two wallpaper packs, then came 1.2 listing three packs and now 1.4 lists no less than FIVE wallpaper packs. Furthermore, version 1.1 & 1.2 needed a LOT of time to download the wallpapers, they re-downloaded wallpapers already copied and, rarely, even downloaded only 90% of the wallpaper. The latest version should fix all these problems. Now you may be wondering why I released 1.4 so soon after 1.3. Well, here's why...

As promised, version 1.3 should have fixed all of the above problems and a lot of other smaller bugs, but... then... My Digital Life came along and published NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader while I was still working on version 1.3. So, after LifeHacker visitors got the old 1.2 version, I didn't want to see this happen with MDL too... So, I've speeded things up a bit and released an a-bit-untested-and-incomplete version of NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader: 1.3.

After a few hours, the app looked how it should have in the first place and so version 1.4 came out. And yes, you heard my right, the difference between 1.3 and 1.4 is strictly GUI-related, the engine is exactly the same (in short, no need to download walls with 1.4 if you've initially used 1.3). It's almost like the Windows Vista -> Seven story :))

Anyway, here are some of the important changes made in these two releases... As I was saying before, version 1.3 added two more wallpaper packs (2008 and 2009 from version 1.2 are now 2008/2009 International Photography Contest), it no longer downloads wallpapers previously copied, the download process has been optimized, so it doesn't take so much time. Version 1.4 fixes a small bug related to the 2009 resolution menu, adds information, support and readme buttons.

That's about it. I'll probably release one more version of NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader with some small improvements, but after that... I'm out of ideas and, more importantly, of wallpaper packs to add. So... if you have any suggestions, an area dedicated to NatGeo Wallpaper Downloader has been added on the Support Forum.
